A large part of studying at a university is about doing your own research. Ranging from literature research for a presentation or an essay to getting your first taste of the every day life of an astronomical researcher when doing your bachelor and master's research. Here you can find a selection of my work.
- Actueel Onderzoek
- The first-year course "Actueel Onderzoek" (Recent Research) culminates in doing your first literature research. My research was about determining ΩDM using gravitational lensing. The results were compiled in the form of personal websites. My own research page (Dutch) and the main page for Actueel Onderzoek 2005 (Dutch as well).
- Klein Onderzoek
- The "Klein Onderzoek" is the research project with which you finish the bachelor phase of your study. For this you will do research on a small subject in astronomy under the supervision of a staff member at the institute. In theory it'll take you about three months, but in practice this always turns out to be a gross underestimate. Together with Reynier Peletier I've analysed HST images to find out more about dwarf galaxy evolution in the Virgo cluster. You can check out the project report and the presentation held on June 19 here.
